I never liked playing online until this site went live. Since then, I have done more research. USAToday are way too easy - even the 5 star. miniclip.com not great, neither websudoku. The SudoCue ones are harder, but program not got a good UI. Still like Simple Sudoku's interface the best, but USA Today's and miniclip's are pretty quick.

Yeah, for online it's really good. I tried a bunch of offline ones since last year and settled on Simple Sudoku. I play on a tablet PC. It hsa double-clicking for a naked single and right-clicking for include or exclude. I always use auto pencilmarks.

Debs: red and green are the pencilmarks feature which you can use - see how to play (shift and akt)

ifyou hold down the shift and then click the number, it will make it green, if you hold down alt & the number, it will make it red in the box

Debs40ish, If you are uncertain what number can work in a square, use the green or red to track it.

If you go nuclear too early, the red and green will make spotting patterns tought.

It's not cheating to guess. Just save the grid before you guess and remember what you did so you can revert to something you know will work.

i had to guess one field (2 possibilities) my first guess was wrong my 2nd one was right

i hate guessing because i always forget what i changed

If I have to guess, I save my puzzle first, then guess... if I hit a road block I refresh back to my saved puzzle and start again

I save everything I know for sure, that way I can guess a little and the go back to a clean slate if I need

I've never seen a flash on error, unless it's so subtle that I miss it. I've only seen red for completely invalid moves, like 2 2s in the same square or something.

i'm not having the program solve it, it's easier for me to use, take notes and such

sudoku companion doesn't even solve or give hints, it's just a better tool than this crappy javascript thing on here

so i copy it into an empty grid and solve it that way.. i can just type "1" and it puts that as the number, control + 1 makes it a note.. alt + 1 removes 1 as a note

much faster than click, click, click, click click

anyway, off to go work on another sudoku of the day

how do i change the difficulty?

You can't change the difficulty - there is only one puzzle every 24 hours. This one will go away at 12 pm CST

if you can figure out that one number has to be in a certain row or colum of a box then you can figure out exact placements later, but that note will help you w/ other numbers

looking for xwing and swordfish (i'm new to these techniques) just can't see them

well, finally a medium puzzle that was easy - usually for me they're more difficult than the hard ones - almost didn't start it - glad i did
