Done, ~25 min. Night!
12:40 am
David Mitchell

I'm resisting the temptation to solve this tonight
12:40 am
David Mitchell

I'd rather save it for tomorrow
12:41 am
raggedyandy3478

hey guys, late getting here, is it that had david?
12:41 am
raggedyandy3478

*hard

Morning all
12:47 am
David Mitchell

I haven't started it

raggedyandy3478

morning sprite
12:47 am
David Mitchell

Good morning, sprite, though I'd rather not think about that yet
12:48 am
raggedyandy3478

oh sorry david, u talking about it being tempting made me think it was a brain teaser
12:48 am
sprite

Lol, you are more in the mood for a nice and long sleep?
12:48 am
David Mitchell

I didn't word it clearly, andy
12:48 am
David Mitchell

Yes, sprite :)
12:49 am
David Mitchell

I'm not going to get it, though, as I've stayed up so long
12:49 am
raggedyandy3478

or im just rather tired considering its almost 2 AM over in my time zone, david
12:49 am
David Mitchell

Same here
12:50 am
sprite

Well, from one addict to another all I can say is: go to BED then! ;)
12:50 am
raggedyandy3478

haha, but because we are addicts, we wont go to bed until this is resolve

I know... :)

At least it isn't that hard to solve, this one.

raggedyandy3478

lol

My favorite thing about Firefox is how it always likes to move me forward, backwards, or open one of the tiles as an image. Best features ever? I think yes.
12:53 am
sprite

Hahaha... right mouse button in stead of left?
12:53 am
shiroro

No, Left just took me back while shift was down. Which is new, usually I just end up opening one of the boxes as an image for no explicable reason.
12:54 am
David Mitchell

I haven't had that happen
12:54 am
sprite

That's strange, I use FF as well, but none of those problems sound familiar. The image-part pops up when I use the wrong mouse button.
12:57 am
raggedyandy3478

i use safari, and haven't had a problem yet, if u guys are mac users that is
12:58 am
sprite

Alas, no mac here. Just the average "computers are like airplanes. Never open windows" kind of machine.
1:00 am
raggedyandy3478

lol, i dont see how i ever used windows over the Mac OS X
1:02 am
sprite

I still need too much programs that won't run under Mac, but I do know that windows is a series of bugs registered as trademark.
1:02 am
shiroro

the only windows application I absolutely need to be able to use is foobar, which is frustrating because no one's developing a decent audio play for OS X right now
1:03 am
peternl

hi all
1:03 am
shiroro

though I don't recall OS X's iTunes being quite the trainwreck the windows version is
1:03 am
peternl

no one would develop an audio player on the mac, they'd have to compete with iTunes.
1:04 am
sprite

Hi peter!
I heard iTunes was great.
1:04 am
shiroro

I wouldn't consider it a good use of resources, though I'd certainly like it - curious, but does iTunes do gapless playback of anything yet?
1:04 am
peternl

There are a couple ones that are still available but no logner developed. Have you tried Audion?
1:05 am
shiroro

I don't have a working mac anymore, so not in four years or so (though I think development stopped around then)
1:05 am
peternl

Not that I use it myself. No idea on gapless I'm afraid - I listen to good old fasioned radio until the ads drive me insane
1:06 am
peternl

No developer in their right mind would compete with Apple on a Mac
1:06 am
shiroro

competing with apple in any part of the ipod/itunes business seems pretty silly at this point
1:08 am
peternl

Someone will break the iPod monopoly eventually (look at the Walkman...), the main question is whether the iTunes Music Store will manage to stay at the top
1:08 am
shiroro

I don't know. I refuse to buy lossy music, so I haven't really used any of the online music stores at this point
1:09 am
shiroro

though I heard gaplessness was a requirement for Microsoft to certify players with PlaysForSure 2.0, if that means anything
1:11 am
sprite

I think this one should have been classified as easy. Each step led to another without needing any advanced techniques at all.
1:11 am
peternl

No unique rectangls? Drats
1:12 am
sprite

So on to babble, to tickle the other side of my brain ;)
1:12 am
shiroro

I found this one a bit unfriendly for some reason, though it's coming together now
1:12 am
peternl

have fun
1:13 am
shiroro

...and by that I mean the top-left corner has come up unworkable twice. radical!
1:14 am
peternl

I find it amazing that different people find the same puzzle such different levels. Nikola & I often disagree on which ones are hard.
1:14 am
shiroro

wait, still coming together.
1:17 am
shiroro

...and done

neat! unique rectangles come in handy again!

I must ponder the likelihood that sudoku puzzles pose as modern day numbers stations... eerie.
2:55 am
Penguin

Number stations?
3:01 am
augurus

Wikipedia is your friend. In fact, to this day, very little is known about them.
3:03 am
Penguin

I think you are overthinking it, Augurus. Sometimes a number is just a number 8-)
3:10 am
augurus

There's nothing to overthink. Rather, estimating the likelihood or the chances that such someone could mastermind such an excellent feat.
3:15 am
Penguin

Obviously I am way too tired to follow your reasoning. While I'm sure that some crossword puzzles are also cyphers, since that is a fun challenge for a certain mindset of geek to create, that doesn't make crossword puzzles number stations. Not much difference when we get to sudoku puzzles.

But, as I said, I'm probably too tired to think this through at this hour.

I hear ya i'm so stumped right now.
11:22 am

I think I found out what I've done wrong previously. I was leaving an 8 out of one square - faulty logic.

Ooh, that was close. I made a mistake at the end but was able to correct it.

12:49 pm
jen34

:o)
12:50 pm
elara6

I've only found 1 myself so far :)
12:50 pm
jen34

i take it you're a musician, elara?
12:52 pm
elara6

Well, not exactly. I'm a Sweet Adeline. :) The icon is the Sweet Adeline logo. If you've heard of barbershop singing (think 4 guys on a corner singing 4-part harmony), this is the female version of it (now an international organization).
12:52 pm
jen34

I KNEW it! i'm a Sweet Adeline, too. I sing in TuneTown Show Chorus here in Nashville. how cool!
12:52 pm
jen34

I'm a lead.
12:53 pm
elara6

Oh, how cool :) I'm up here in Region 17 in Michigan. County Connection Chorus (midsize, about 45 active members)
12:53 pm
elara6

I thought for sure a sudoku-er would be a baritone ;) (I am :) )
12:54 pm
jen34

lol! I'm familiar with your region -- I have friends who sing in Pride of Toledo, and the tenor of Moxie Ladies is a friend, too -- I think that's your region, yes?
12:55 pm
elara6

Oh, wow. Yes, sure is! Actually, I saw them compete (and win again!) in Region 4 this year. And already have tickets to Vegas for International. :)
12:56 pm
jen34

I was at region 4's competition too -- my mom sings in Columbus Chorus
12:56 pm
jen34

I can't wait for Vegas -- the chorus competition is going to be amazing.
12:56 pm
jen34

Our chorus just won for the first time, ever, so we're going to be competing in Calgary next year -- we're so excited! How long have you been singing?
12:56 pm
elara6

Jen, do you use AIM or anything? I'm guessing the other sudoku'ers are tired of barbershop talk. ;)
12:57 pm
jen34

Probably right lol. My AIM is down right now, and I actually have to get some yard work done -- BUT, I'll keep an eye out, and we can chat next time I'm on -- sound good? :o)
12:58 pm
elara6

Yep! That'd be great. And if you wanna drop me a line, just email me (elara @ umich.edu ) (AIM is kamilyn6)
1:00 pm
jen34

I will definitely do that -- thanks! So good to talk to a fellow SA :o) Have a great day!
1:00 pm
elara6

You too! :)
