No, it's not really harder to mow. I have a Kohler 20 horse power motor with a 46" deck.

and then he planted pine trees

It's just long and unsightly

and now it's like a little campground and doesn't need to be mowed cause the pine needles keep the grass from growing

I have a few pines out there

ah well, so it's long and unsightly for now... soon you will mow it and then it won't be

Yeah, pine needles can cover the ground and smother the grass.

and just think of all the work you are saving yourself. if you had mowed it BEFORE the rain, then you'd just have to mow it again sooner

I had thought of selling the mown grass for money.
