Struggled for a while until I found a triple, then it came together nicely.

the triple was tough. If you're stuck, the 997th digit of Pi is a 1,2, or 3 meaning row, column box; the 980th digit of pi is which of those has the triple

Found an instance of a new technique I've discovered. Forbidden pair formation. Sometimes when one number is removed from two places in a constituency, it produces pairs that are impossible. Therefore those numbers must not be removed. Instead, remove any number that might cause them to be removed.

Oh brother! I can't find the triple everyone is mentioning. And I'm getting too tired to continue.

don't look too hard... it's in the clear.

UTH, I think I know what your new technique is. If you look at it again I bet you will see that you really found a naked pair in a block, not on the same line.

OrangeSlice

Awesome, I'm almost three weeks behind now.
11:47 am
OrangeSlice

Guess I'd better get to work on these

New technique sounds a lot like Aligned Pair Exclusion from the description I see here.

Or maybe a new variation of Nishio.

Difficulty score 44. I recommend using green on this one. Like everyone says there is a triple that opens things up.
12:05 pm
angieplumptit

Difficulty score is 27 on the Freyerhoff scale.

AND Nishio is a fake!
12:37 pm
lawfully

not that terrible, just don't forget whatever it is called, like a triple o aligned pair, you already know it.
12:47 pm
drwho

Yes Angie, Nishio is controversial. But by what metric did you rate this puzzle a 17 earlier today? And how does the Brukheim principle affect the difficulty rating?
