2020 is the 2nd year my municipality (in PA) has collected a "flood reduction and pollution control" fee (minimum $120 per single family residence; other property owner fees are spelled out in the ordinance passed in late 2018, allegedly based both on the property's "classification", amount of impervious surface area, and the tax status of the property)

Phil, don't write off GM, please (even if they've written Australia off). I'm driving my first GM in 40 years - a Chevy Bolt (100% electric). It's a terrific little car, without the sticker shock of a Tesla (but not cheap), great range, good for the environment.

HK, if "air is free" then why do most gas stations charge for air for your tires? If I recall, air used to be free and they stated charging for it back in the 1980s. (Yes, I know that they aren't charging for air but are charging for compressing air ... but it still looks like air isn't free anymore).

Penguin - I think you answered your own question, but drew the incorrect conclusion. The air is free - the delivery of it for a specific use is not.

btw - the comment I made about taxing air - was said in jest.

Don't pay for air at servos in Australia, well not in Perth anyway. Diane, the bolt is way too expensive and not that good. Main problem is that GM think it's too difficult to make right hand drive models. Rest of the world has no issue, after all it's not just Australia, there's pretty large markets like Japan, India, Indonesia, the UK. Lets face it, they only survived bankruptcy because of the protections available in the US. Even with billions of dollars in aid from the Australian taxpayers they could,

couldn't make a go of it. Ford, Toyota, Mazda and others filled the space with better product. Sad, but you can't prop up failed businesses with taxpayer dollars. Better spent on health, education and public infrastructure.
