I have that all the time. I can solve the hard ones, even evil ones, but the easy ones are taking me forever to finish.

only now that i solved it i see it is symmetric :-)

No wthat I have figured out the logic to these things, I can do any of them - my next goal is to do them without the little green men

It could be the techniques. I found this one quite straightforward, once I took a more careful look.

I try not to guess, unless I really can't see any other way. And occasionally when I find myself getting bored with the hard/expert ones, and not wanting to look harder. ;)

Just curious - with all the prolems that y'all are having - do you use the subscripts or not? If not, why - do you not know about them or are you trying to be macho? (I ask because I am getting ready to go macho)

sometimes i wonder if my reasoning is logical, but i've been doing alright with finishing them the last few days... gotta go pro so i can work on the archives :)

Pro would be good. Help support the community and then you have access to the archives, as you pointed out, which is good practice if nothing else.

This is the first time I've used subscripts and now I have no ideaa what make of them.

Hi mab! You look for patterns, and try to eliminate possibilities.... does that help?

Sometimes they interfere with seeing things, unless you are using advanced techniques.

So, I should fill in all possibilities? Even when that means I subscript four spaces?

mab - I go through each box and determine what can go there, and enter greenies..... then look for boxes by column, row or cube that have only one possible choice, and start eliminating from there.

That's the idea. You fill in all the possibilities for each square and then start eliminating things.

Yesterday I could just use my eyes to solve the thing. Today, I'm stuck. Ok, that helps, MB.

I got about half way through yesterday and did something wrong and had to start over and archive it!

so far I am not seeing the "easy" of this one....

Simple Sudoku marks automatically; you can only exclude possibilities (or not look at them at all)
