Here's a summary of the section that TallMike referenced:
> A HEALTH CARE PRACTITIONER MAY PERFORM AN ABORTION WHEN THE PATIENT IS WITHIN TWENTY-FOUR WEEKS FROM THE COMMENCEMENT OF PREGNANCY, OR THERE IS AN ABSENCE OF FETAL VIABILITY, OR THE ABORTION IS NECESSARY TO PROTECT THE PATIENT'S LIFE OR HEALTH.

Summarizing the summary: Abortion is allowed when the pregnancy is less than six months along OR the fetus will not survive birth OR the mother's life/health is at risk.

I don't see anything in there about the abortion being a matter of convenience. I believe that ellenz is misinformed.

Lots of people do stupid things when they're young. I agree as long as they are open about it and realise it was dumb that's OK. If they try to cover it up though or like Trump think it's just locker room bragging so it's OK, they need puling up on it.

Phil & HK - there are mistakes, and there are mistakes. In 1984, black face and KKK were wholly unacceptable, especially here in Virginia. I'm appalled that the picture was even permitted to be published in a yearbook of a publicly-funded institution. As I've mentioned, Northam is a good man, but for the sake of Virginia and the Democratic Party, he needs to go.

HK - you state, "Very simple, people change. We all change all the time, some more than others." So per your logic, there is hope for Ted Cruz?

Phil - totally agree

KT - I never said people alllchange for the better. So yes, Cruz will change too, probably not very much, and likely not for the better, given his past behavior.

I am proud of the Dems. Since Clinton's impeachment they do not suffer their fools lightly. From Spitzer to Franken, if a Dem is found out of bounds, they are gone. Can't say that about the other party.

Northam will be gone before the end of the week. Plus he was originally a Republican.

Tuco - In all seriousness, I must agree with you.

Dems have handled these crises much better than the Republicans

I don't see this as a crisis. I see it as a fool who should have disclosed this part of his past before he ran. Made amends and let the voters decide if he really has evolved. It is alway the hiding, the lying, and the covering up that gets them eventually.

There will be a crisis if they try to keep the Lt. Gov from taking the helm after Northam leaves.

I think its strange that so many are unable to forgive mistakes of someone still at school whose only real influence that time was the institution of colleges chosen by their parents and their parents themselves. Let them grow up, serve society and realise what they were taught was in fact wrong, stand up and be accountable. Everything should be taken into account, paused for serious consideration and a sensible decision made. I have little time for knee jerk reactions. As was mentioned, the fact the blackface was allowed at the time was morally wrong, and those who still think it's OK are the problem, not those who have realised the error of their ways and changed for the better.
