CHAT LOG for Tuesday, June 19, 2007
This doesn't look too bad.....
20 filled fast. Now slowing down.
Done with a guess. I couldn't find a wing or anything else. Maybe I'm just not awake enough yet.
My FIRST EXPERT!!!
done with 1 educated guess
starting to slow down
used greens in the middle
So many experts lately!
Done! Had to use greenies and a few guesses.
20. Going green.
Ready to make a productive looking guess. I'm almost sure it will work. Fingers crossed.
It did! Got it, greens and one pretty confident guess. Better than a shot in the dark.
What's a "green"?
Oh. Pencilmark. Gotcha.
Have a ?. I have 4 boxes to solve in 1 line,
why does the 45 not become the hidden pair ?
think it does
no it does not, the 8 is out of box 458
u can remove that by default
wow... once i plugged the greens it went fast!
well it has solved with the 8 where I said
This lack of useful bivalue cells disturbs me.
I do believe I've just found a death blossom.
Heres another instance I have 4 boxes 75...79...159...15 surely the 15 is a hidden pair but it dint work out
You can't arbitrarily pull values to make pairs.
Doesn't the 5 in the 75 rule that out?
If it was 73...79...159...15, then yes. Because the one and five are unique to those two boxes.
ok maybe Im lost
ugh. I don't like this one, not at all!
gonna have to start over already :-/
arrgh ...4 squares left and i find out theres a mistake somewhere...
oooooohh... that's gonna leave a mark
that was way harsh...lol
okay, maybe this will be a good one to look at over a beer later tonight!!
Reductions based on a weak-ended alternating inference chain led to a couple xy-wings, one xyz-wing, and some general scanning solved it after that.
Puzzle solved :)
you mind putting that into lamens terms?
Scanraid has nice explanations of everything I just mentioned.
I started my chain with the lower cell of the 3/4 pair in the center box.
I can't remember having this much trouble with a puzzle in a loooong time. Started over twice now, keep making the same mistake--I think.
I used some pretty advanced stuff to solve it; would be nice if someone finds an easier route.
The folks from earlier today didn't seem to have so much trouble with it. Sounds like they were working on a different puzzle than I've got here... ; )
Probably Saturday's (I'm doing it now).
Ah, I think I found my mistake. Maybe it will go better now...
go. oh no. another expert.
That was almost insanely easy once I saw my error.
not sure what I'm doing wrong. It seems too simple but I can't even guess at this point.
done. I don't believe it. I put in a random number and it all fell into place.
wtg zug - i'm still working it
i love a good watermelon.
and i miss scribble, who used to set fruit salad traps for me.
fruit salad traps?
Public Service Announcement: When making pasta salad, remember to buy the pasta.
I can has expert?
the ceiling :)
