even without a checkpoint, you could use the red numbers to try something out, I suppose.

it's very easy, parsec. go to My Account, you'll see a little box on the left with Edit underneath it. Click on Edit. You'll see two options - one to paste a url, the other to browse your pc. I open another tab, go to google images, pick an icon, then c+p that. Bob's your uncle! : )

i did that even when i was a kid. and some of my doodling took the form of long division.

doodling is pretty interesting to me. Ever watch people doodle? Everyone has a favorite pattern, and it's all different.

I wish they would teach long division in our schools earlier instead of doing all this working out in a long horizontal line blah

hershy, i wanted to ask you, what forcing chains all about. Are they about eliminating impossibles?

oh

a forcing chain is when you guess and you trace through how that guess will work out, and if it causes something bad then it was wrong and if not it was right. :)

the thing is to mark your trail in red instead of actually choosing the numbers so you don't lose your greening work

is there a particular way to recognise a good place to start a forcing chain? i think there is a bid difference in continuing puzzle if you do it throug finding the impossibles than just going with just simple guessing.

generally chains show a contradiction - they are logical, but you're right they are really no different from a guess where you know which cells to unwind - because there is not a systematic way to identify them. The simplest is an XY-wing, which has a couple common patterns - no one calls that a guess, and no one calls X-wings a guess - because you can systematically identify an X-Wing (or swordfish) by highlighting all the cells for a possible digit. The terminology simply depends upon the pattern being recognizable (which even the XY-wing is not always easily recognizable). In Simple Sudoku you would use the colored shading to see the pattern. I think Dr_God should add an interactive mode where you can shadow another user's board and show them the logic behind the next step they need to take.

I think what happened is there wasn't enuf incentive for people to go pro. The only difference was the icon. Then he added the ability to play archives and changed the policy on checkpoints. Pretty good deal, i think.

The game is still free. The features are not, and some features never were. A few were briefly free. Artlady has it, I think.

In Babble (his first game) you can't get stats unless you're pro. Of course, there are other sites out there that give them to you for free now.

i got a contract last week with a freelance company, and they are keeping me busy

lots of things then...

several different things - i designed a new website (graphic interface), and i was modifying a photo gallery template today to match an existing site

most of it's not very glamorous ;)

i can not work as such at the moment, but if i do anything it's logotipes and skins for webpages maingly

the last thing i've done is typographic animation. It was such fun!
