American is #1 in worldwide charitable donations, yet we have lost our humanity?

Think you miss the point pinhead, as the richest nation on the planet, it would be very surprising if it wasn't. Unfortunately, such things refusing to sign the Paris climate accord and saying we don't care if thousands of islands in the world will be under water, displacing centuries of culture, not to mention destroying one of the greatest living wonders of the world, the Great Barrier Reef is unforgivable. I was listening to the great Sir David Attenborough on the radio today. Now there is an example of humanity. On the other hand I saw footage of Trump ridiculing Ford and the crowd cheering. It made me feel sick and angry, an appalling disgrace of humanity.

The American people for the most part have not lost their humanity. It is the Republican party and many of their corporate masters who have lost theirs in the name of greed and power.

Let's remind everyone. There is only one nation not a part of the Paris climate agreement. Guess who. And guess why.

Sorry accident. The richest country arguement. The stat that I gave is based on personel income, not on wealth. We give a larger % of our take home pay. Australia is destroying there own barrier reef through tourism, but it is easier to blame others. You are condeming 230 million + people based on the actions of politicians.

The USA is still part of the Paris accord. Can not withdraw until 2020, by the rules of the accord. Anything can happen between now and then

Nonsensical statement that the Great Barrier Reef is being destroyed by tourism! Try Global Warming for bleaching and pollution causing increase starfish outbreak. Reefs around the world are having bleaching episodes because of increased water temps caused by Global Warming.

Top 4 reasons for destruction of barrier reef accotding to scientists. 1 global warming 2 nitrogen laden farm runoff, starfish outbreak due to this 3 costal development, including two new ports and associated dredging. 4 overfishing.

Agree. Your original statement ws about tourists??

Then again, air travel by tourists and business people is a huge contributor to Global Warming (4-9%) - so maybe you are right.

I agree with you my original statement about tourism was not accurate.

I don't condemn all Americans, but I hope you are frustrated enough by this governments actions to bring them to account in the only way a democracy can, by voting them out. This is especially true as you don't seem to be able to trust your news. My tip would be to try the BBC or ABC (Australia) or SBS(Australia) where by and large the journalism is very fair and balanced and not influenced by the governments. You seem to have currently a political system that is unable to function. The will of one idiot at the top is apparently unable to be stopped.

pinhead - Yes. Clearly, I'm paying attention to the wrong things. The president throws paper towels at Puerto Ricans - American citizens. Don't focus on that, no focus on our humanitarianism: #1 Country with it's hand held out to us (consistently) is Israel. They're asking for $3,300,000,000.00 for 2019 - that's over 3 Billion $. In past years, they've gotten 4 Billion. Please, we can't afford healthcare here, but we can be so magnanimous to a country nowhere close to the bottom of the list of 'neediness.' Many of us are too educated to be fooled with your ridiculous statistic.

And, I for one, cannot afford to be supplementing 96% of the planet with any portion of my meager income. That's the truly troubling stat, why are our fingers in so many candy jars? We may be putting money in, but what are we taking out? The term 'charitable' is laughable.
