Jane, I struggled with one very old one for ages before I finally cracked it - was so happy when I finally solved it, I announced it in the chog... wouldn't be surprised if it was the same one. I do remember that the chog for that day had lots of good players grousing about how "impossible" it as. Maybe that's the one you're stuck on?

Ireland had a robust debate and vote recently. A predominantly catholic country grappling with the most deeply held convictions on both sides, but resoundingly ending up with a vote for change. Generally most democracies have ended up at a similar point of view balancing the right of the woman to choose verses those of not an unborn child, but a foetus that has the potential to become a child. I think we all have to accept the verdict of the majority, after all isn't that what democracy is about? Sadly people think that because they have strong religious views that means they are above the law. Even in a democracy, you must abide by laws. Campaigning for change is healthy but if the majority have decided, give it a rest for another generation.

phil - I'm heading for bed too tired to chat about this... I expect you are amilliar with the Mgadalene Laundries.. we had quite a lively debate about it over in Babble at the time of the vote. Almost no one in N. America knows about them - even thought they were here as well. With you being in Oz, it has come to "public view" in the last few decades. Such a shame that this was happening under the guise of the church and always behind closed doors... crting shame for so many... :(

Jane - I just finished Oct 4th, 2006. It's an Expert, but quite easy. I breezed through more than half before I even thought of using a green or red... it will restore you faith :)

Indeed TK, Numbat pretty much exclusive to WA. Nearly extinct but good environmental work being done to save them. Feral cats or rogue pet cats introduced of course were the big problem.

Hi Phil... welcome to Canukistan! Like Oz, Camada is bigger than people think. We are in the sme province, but I am likely about an 8- 10 hour drive from you if you are in Ottawa... I am close to NIagara Falls and not too far from Toronto (right across the Peace Bridge at Buffalo, NY)
How long are you here for?
5:35 pm
TraderKate

...and I just looked up where you actually are... add another 5-6 hours to that drive time! I hope you can get away and see nearby Quebec City while you are here (Montreal is likely to far to go...) -laughing quietly at 6+1 :)

I did have a quick look at numbat profile and saw that they were trying to re-introduce them in SA. I hope it work. Between the cats and the rabbits you are having a time with foreign critters causing problems. :(

If you can capture what you have completed and post it on the Iron Sudoku Community page on FB, I could compare my completed puzzle to yours and let you know if there are any errors ...
