Ask any naturalized non-white US citizen, drwho, if they feel "American." If they feel accepted by all and welcomed as Americans.

Diane: I assume you have asked them?

Diane: I suspect the answer is mostly going to be "Yes". I know a surprising number of naturalized citizens, and they all tell me that they're very happy here.

I'd call that confirmed by the fact that they're, you know, still here, though they have the means to be many other places.

Actually, SJ, in my experience the answer is no. They like being American, and they 're happier here than in their extremely poverty stricken and/or war ravaged homelands, but they are not welcomed as Americans. They are met with suspicion and discrimination.

It's sad to see Police targeted but equally sad to see police shoot without justification. All a result of too many guns. When will Americans realise they have become so desensitised by the violence they cannot see that the guns in public hands have to go. I have to say also that the Police must be held accountable. I could not believe it when told on the news that Police have shot and killed 500 people since the start of this year. Such a waste of humanity in a pathetic excuse of the right to bear arms.

To give you some perspective, I doubt you would need more than one hand to count those shot by Police in England, Germany and Australia.

I'm pretty sure a lot of police shootings in the US are classified as justified when in other countries they would be charged and probably jailed. I am also pretty sure that the police in the US are in a much higher state of fear of being shot because of the ridiculous number of guns in public hands. Get rid of them and the numbers of human lives lost will come tumbling down.

seems like whenever I type 'go' it's like a magic word for: "Come on, let's go to the library, Walgreens and Chipotle." Or some other such things. Sigh!

Diane, you must travel in different circles than I. My best friend is a naturalized citizen - fully American. For the past 16 years I have worked with two ladies who are naturalized citizens - both fully American without even a hint of despair. What does this prove - NOTHING!!! It is merely anecdotal. That is part of the problem = the fallacy of generalization. One cop (or if we use the BLM stats, 135 cops) kill unnecessarily. But there are 10s (possibly 100s) of thousands of police who do not shoot unnecessarily. One muslim shoots up a night club in Orlanda, but there are thousands of muslims in America who do not.
