Phil, I don't know what you mean by politically appointed judges. How are your judges selected? Where I live judges are elected. As far as I can tell that process does not produce any better results than appointment by the governor or the president.

Who elects them dr who? I'm pretty sure ours are chosen by a panel of QCs but I'd have to double check.

Phil, judges are elected by the voters. The same voters who elect all the other politicians.

But the selection of judges varies from state to state. Even though we elect them where I live, if a vacancy occurs between elections, then the governor appoints someone to fill the vacancy.
