Cross hatching is one of the most basic strategies. The other is what I call the missing digit scan.

I've had several like that. Sometimes you just have to leave it for a few days and then no matter how sure you are about your checkpoints, start completely over.

i've been stuck on some of the archived puzzles, so this morning i spent a little time walking through things on scanraid.com, and now i'm cracking them left and right
