Weird how different people have trouble with different types of puzzles. I've noticed that lots of people struggle with March 28, but it was pretty easy for me. I got it in a few hours with only one fairly well thought-out guess. Now yesterday's medium, on the other hand, gave me fits.

I tried that and nothing happened... what is it a sort of cheat?

click in an open box so it brings up the 1-9, then hold shift and click on one of those. it will put a small green number in the box as a note

i wouldnt call it a cheat. it would be like making notes to the side if you were doing it on paper

there is another way of doing it that puts little "red" numbers in the block

not that i know of

I almost bought an electric portable sudoku machine, but it only had 800-some puzzles, which I think is silly for an electronic device.

I don't know how many mine has, I've only worked a few.
