It seems inevitable: The more productive looking guess is always the wrong guess -- a bummer if you're trying to get it in one lucky guess. But a guess that proves itself wrong is more useful than a guess that peters out without being proven wrong. So you're better off intentionally making productive looking, wrong guesses. I wonder if that's a metaphor for anything else in life?
