mich.pdx: "Distraction" not quite the word I am prepared to usse right now; more colorful language comes to mind. After finishing yest's puzzle I went downstairs & did not see the snake coming out of the baseboard any more. Thought he went back inside... Found out differently when I discovered him all stretched out & writhing in the middle of my kitchen floor. 4 ft+ of black snake. I still have bad case of heebie-jeebies...

Been there, Lin. I once stripped down and was stepping into the shower when a California King Snake began writhing right where I was about to step. It's colors, red, black, yellow, are the same as the highly dangerous Coral Snake, but in a different order. I jumped up on the bed. When I went back to investigate, he had crawled most of the way down under the house. I pushed his tail all the way down the hole.
