I can never figure out what you guys mean when you talk about pairs and triplets :S

Chrissie, I'm not good at explaining it, but if you search on google, you can find sites that give good explanations and examples. It's a way of eliminating certain options by identifying pairs of squares that have similar/same options

this one is quite hard - i can't find any numbers !!! what a puzzle

I meant to say: YES it IS!

Suppose you have a row with several empty squares, but you know that two of those squares can only contain 2 of the missing digits...

...and suppose that the 2 squares that can only contain 2 digits (but you don't know which order) are also in the same 3x3 region.

Then you can eliminate the possiblity of those 2 missing digits appearing in any of the other empty squares in the 3x3 region.

Similar logic can be applied to columns and regions or regions and rows or regions and columns.

It all gets real easy when you discover the 7 X-wing in the rows.

x-wing ?

If a number appears in only two cells of a row, and there is a second row with the same two numbers only in the same two columns, you can eliminate that number from all other cells in the two columns. The same holds true for columns.

i didnt know that it's called x-wing but i found it, specifically in the 1st and 3rd block (top left + top right)

Im not sure what you mean. An X-wing requires four cells in two rows (or columns)

that one was one of the easiest I've done

It is pretty neat to see how people think differently.

I always use the green numbers. I find it easiest to go through from 1 to 9 in each box and mark with green what each square can be. Then I just eliminate possibilities. It always involves some guessing, but if you save your work when you are sure, you can always go back.
