Hi Raggedy,

I'm a little hectic this week. I'm on jury duty and in the midst of a civil case. We get closing arguments tomorrow morning and probably begin deliberations in the afternoon. (Three days of boring testimony so far).

Well, that means that I will have done my civic duty in this regard for a while. I won't receive another summons for at least four years.

nice, do you know if thats still the case if you 'exempted' out of your summons?

i got a jury summons a few months ago, called the courthouse and basically said 'im a college kid' they responded w/ 'then you don't have to come, thanks, bye'

Ah. I don't know how that works in Georgia. Every state has its own rules. My original summons was for me to serve in April. I told them that it was the two weeks before the AP Exam and that no one could substitute for me without hurting the kids. They postponed my service until this week and next. As it happens, I was selected for the first trial of the week.

interesting, i dont think GA does that, they would just let you go and not come back til your next jury summons....after sudoku ill have to look into how often jury summons come in down here

Last time I received the jury summons was 1997. Then I was told that it would be at least two years before I was called upon again. It has been a long two years. 8-)

The frustrating part at the moment is that I am not allowed to talk about anything with anyone. After the trial is over, then I can express how I think each attorney is an idiot (well, one more than the other).

No, the reasons that each is an idiot are pretty funny. It will have to wait for a day or three. For now I'll mention generally that each attorney has a large area of ignorance, one regarding science and the other English.
