Oh goodness, well, if you have time and want to get into a really cool group, you should check it out sometime. Sweet Adelines is an international women's singing organization that sings acapella barbershop 4-part harmony. :)

The chorus near you is called Fenton Lakes chorus. You can check out their website at www.fentonlakeschorus.com Most choruses are more than happy to have guests any night, and it seems these guys rehearse on wednesdays, if you're interested.

oh wow. that sounds kinda fun :) actually i love to sing and have been complaining for some time about having no creative outlet for it

I joined my chorus down here (County Connection chorus-www.countyconnectionchorus.org) just over a year ago. It was the best thing I ever did. The women are great, and it's a huge bunch of fun every week. There are performances and competitions and stuff too. :)

*grin* :) From what I know about Fenton Lakes, they're a pretty good chorus. It's not in my region (meaning we'd not compete against eachother ;) ), but I've met some good folks from that region. :)

Drop them an email, or just stop in. They'll be thrilled to meet you. Every chorus loves guests (potential members ;) ) :)

Once a week, every week (other than some time off for holidays and such). It's usually a 2.5-3 hr rehearsal, that'll prob. include going over repertoire songs, learning new stuff, focusing on certain techniques, etc.. It's amazing, and I've learned so much about how to sing better since I joined. :)

i took a signing class in college that i really enjoyed, but when i got preggers i had to stop, as i was pretty sick and worn out at the time :P

Yeah, I'm still nervous somewhat, but this has really boosted my confidence. And you're always singing with at least 3 other people. ;)

Lead = melody, pretty much 100% of the time. Tenor=highest part (think upper soprano), Baritone=most like alto, but in the same range as the Lead part (I'm a baritone), and Bass=lowest part.

Ooo, tenors are rare. :) You can see from the Fenton Lakes member list that tenors are the fewest. But if you like to sing harmony, and sing pretty high, then tenor might work perfectly for you :)

Well, if you're not sure about that bit of it, then try Lead when you go in. It's melody, and they'll probably have at least some songs in their repertoire that you recognize.

Well, all sorts. We have things like "Lion Sleeps Tonight", "Stray Cat Strut", "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas", "Over the Rainbow", and some other songs (some that I'd heard of before, some I hadn't)
