SamanthaJoy and anyone else interested in the distribution of puzzles can get that information with a histogram at the web site listed in my profile.
1:23 am
mab

histogram? i think i had one of those once. one must fast for hours and then drink barium and try not to throw up.
1:24 am
mab

or it could be a graph of some sort
1:24 am
drwho

Yes, it's a graph (a.k.a. frequency distribution).
1:25 am
mab

me joking again. i vaguely remember histograms from stats classes.
1:25 am
drwho

At least you didn't have to drink the concentrated fruit syrup.
1:27 am
mab

i don't mind telling you drwho, since you are a doctor, but i've had my insides imaged so many times i have tasted every conceivable barium containing concoction. yech
1:28 am
drwho

The concentrated fruit syrup is for a different purpose than the barrium. It cleans you out, if you get my drift.
1:28 am
mab

and i have a fairly low vomit threshhold when it comes to chalky or artificially sweetened things.
1:29 am
mab

oh yes, and briskly too.
1:29 am
drwho

The only internal imaging I've had to endure lately is x-rays for kidney stones.
1:30 am
mab

yet, one tries extremely hard not to be sick because, obviously, one mucks things up.
1:30 am
mab

negative or positive?
1:31 am
drwho

Positive. They gave me a couple rounds of ultra-sonic treatments, but the blasted things didn't pass for over a year.
1:32 am
mab

well, they're gone. that's the main thing. I hope it wasn't a kramer on seinfeld sort of event.
1:33 am
drwho

Actually, I'm pretty they still haven't all passed, and its now over 5 years.
1:36 am
drwho

** pretty SURE ++
1:37 am
mab

maybe they did and you don't know. oh my goodness, there is a women in LA singing 'tea for two,' which she sang in the original 'no no nanette' she must be 134 years old at least.
1:38 am
drwho

Hard to miss when a kidney stone passes. They let you know.
1:39 am
mab

she's vamping a little, i think she's forgotten the words.
1:39 am
mab

i can think of a new year resolution for you drwho.
1:40 am
drwho

What should I resolve for the new year?
1:41 am
mab

sainted aunt! that was MR. jimmy scott.
1:42 am
mab

need i spell it out... see your doctor. there may have been advances in technology in the past five years.
1:43 am
mab

i think i will have to revise my age estimate upward for jimmy. he was singing with 'pink martini' which actually, despite the name, is a pretty good jazz ensemble.
1:44 am
drwho

Ah. Maybe. The ultra-sound broke up the larger stones so they could pass. The doc told me to "stand on my head" for about 15 minutes a day to help them pass, but that didn't work.
1:45 am
mab

did you see the seinfeld episode in which kramer has kidney stones? one wouldn't want to be caught unawares.
1:47 am
drwho

No, I don't watch Seinfeld.
1:47 am
mab

I haven't seen television since seinfeld was on, so it's my only current social reference
1:48 am
mab

i'll spare you a description. can't think of any austen references to kidney stones...
1:50 am
drwho

I've had at least half a dozen kidney stone episodes, so I probably don't need a description.
1:50 am
mab

not that i don't read current literary fiction; it's just that kidney stones are not a frequently used plot point.
1:50 am
drwho

Not really a very interesting topic. So how did we get on it anyway?
1:51 am
drwho

Histograms?
1:51 am
mab

can't imagine.
1:51 am
mab

oh yes, my little funniness.
1:52 am
drwho

Stat classes and normal distributions and all that fun stuff.
1:52 am
mab

you know, drwho, i am originally from minnesota, mpls, and i am roughly the same age as you.
1:53 am
mab

it would be interesting if we knew each other, but we'll never know.
1:53 am
drwho

Well I'm originally from Chicago and only moved here in 1976.
1:53 am
mab

I
1:54 am
mab

am hopeless with numbers.
1:54 am
drwho

Did you grow up in Minneapolis or a suburb?
1:55 am
mab

no, linden hills, by lake harriet. goodness, it's been so long since i've been there, i've forgotten many place names.
1:56 am
drwho

I have performed at the lake harriet band shell several times.
1:56 am
mab

it's lovely.
1:57 am
mab

you - suburb or city?
1:57 am
mab

or elswhere
1:57 am
drwho

I was also a member of the Linden Hills Chamber orchestra for a year, but they didn't perform at the band shell.
1:57 am
drwho

I live in a northern suburb (Blaine).
1:57 am
mab

well, who knew there was a chamber orchestra.
1:58 am
mab

your instrument?
1:59 am
drwho

Euphonium and trumpet. I was in a brass quintet and am in a couple of community bands.
1:59 am
mab

wonderful. the euphonium is something like the tuba?
2:01 am
drwho

Yes, it is called a tenor tuba sometimes. It is an octave higher than a bass tuba.
